FAQs

How did you come up with the name “Mosaic Cleaning”?

One of the best things I did for myself when I got laid off was to start going to an art studio once a week:  http://www.4thstreet-studio.com/. Doing mosaics allowed me to work on a new philosophy for how to handle things - take all the little parts of your life and arrange them into beautiful works of art.  I liked the concept so much that when it came time to name the business, “Mosaic Cleaning” seemed like a natural fit.

What’s the difference between a green clean and a regular clean?

“Green Clean”  means I use products that are designed to protect health without harming the environment.  My regular kit contains supplies that are very effective (e.g. bleach) but can be harmful if used improperly.

I am constantly evaluating new green and reglular cleaning products. I’ll keep you posted on what I discover.

What’s the difference between a traditional and a Co-Clean™?

Traditional cleans are those where I have a key to my client’s home, come in, and clean while they are absent – usually at work. I am fully bonded and insured, and would be happy to provide references for anyone considering hiring Mosaic Cleaning for traditional or commercial cleans.

A Co-Clean™, on the other hand, is an appointment where I meet the home-owner and work cooperatively with them to clean. A Co-Clean™ usually takes half the time of a traditional clean because the client and I are both cleaning simultaneously, and thus can be a very economical alternative for those who want help cleaning but currently can’t afford regularly scheduled traditional cleaning.

Do you use your own supplies or the homeowner’s supplies?

I am equipped with my own basic supplies. If there is something special you would prefer I use, and are willing to supply it, I would be happy to accomodate your preference.

What are your rates/what do you charge?

As a ballpark, my current rates for new clients seem to be averaging about $40/hour. But prices may vary depending on the level of effort required (heavy, average, light).

How long does it take you to clean during each visit?

For traditional cleans, the simple answer is, “it depends.”  I will quote you a price based on the job at-hand, the areas to be cleaned, how long I think it will take, the materials to be used, how often I’ll be there and your budget. We come to an agreement and then I get to work. In general, initial cleans take about 3 to 4 hours with subsequent cleans running about 2 hours. It usually takes approximately 3 cleaning sessions before I’ve established a true baseline for each client, at which point we can talk about problem areas that are taking longer and the best solutions for tackling them within your budget.
